Each HLBC camp runs on eight days during two weeks over the summer. This summer, the camp will run from 5:00 pm – 9:30 pm on Monday, Tuesdays and Thursday evenings. We run the camp in the evenings so mentors can participate after work and campers are able to attend summer school classes and hold summer jobs.
Sample Schedule
5:00 pm – Campers arrive, change into their camp uniforms and commence practice drills
6:30 pm – Mentors arrive, change, eat dinner with campers, fill out ice breaker questionnaires
7:00 pm – Leadership Talk from nightly guest speaker
7:30 pm - Off-court leadership activities
8:30 pm - Full court games with campers and mentors on same teams
9:30 pm – Camp dismissal
Field Trip
On Saturday of the first week, the camp schedules a day trip to the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts.
Service Project and Banquet
On Saturday of the second week, campers participate in an all-day community service project and in the evening, an awards banquet for campers, mentors, friends and families.
There is also a pre-camp orientation and post-camp follow-up meeting to match mentors and campers.
