The Need for Exposure to College & Options
A major goal of HLBC is to create interaction between campers with mentors and guest speakers that will broaden the campers’ horizons and raise their sights for what is possible in their lives.

Through dinner discussion topics, classroom activities and a mentor college/career fair, a given group of HLBC campers learn about 40 different colleges and jobs from 40 different mentors. Because it happened to a mentor, now a teammate and a friend, maybe it can happen to them too.

If We Can’t All Make the NBA, What Else Can We Do?
We suggest to campers who love basketball and want to be involved with the game, that there may be other jobs related to the NBA and sports in general besides being a player. Via a HLBC sponsored college fair and our guest speaker program. Campers learn about different colleges and important leadership skills as well as different well-paying sports career paths they can pursue – for example, broadcaster, coach, agent, team doctor, sports marketer.
