To Become a Mentor, Volunteers Must

  • Be college educated males over 21 and living within the five boroughs of New York City
  • Enjoy playing basketball and be able to work in a team/group environment
  • Be willing to participate in follow-up group projects during the calendar school year with campers and fellow members
  • Be available to attend an orientation and every camp session
Mentors are required to fill out a written application and provide referrals. They also are required to go through a personal interview and orientation. Those who want to be matched with a camper at the end of the camp go through another screening process with BBBS which includes finger printing and a background check.
